What it is

Some patients are unhappy with the natural contour lines of the face such as the jawline, chin and cheekbones. In this case, facial implant surgery can help correct or enhance these different areas. Facial implants, made of cohesive materials compatible with human tissues, are often inserted through an incision in the mouth with resorbable sutures to permanently restore or add volume.

Facial implant surgery is great for:

  • Correcting or enhancing the jawline

  • Correcting or enhancing the chin

  • Correcting or enhancing cheekbones

Options

Facial implant surgery is most often performed alone but can be combined with any other surgery. However, patients often opt for the use of fillers to better enhance their facial contouring with little to no down time.

Post-Op Care

The insertion of facial implants is a day surgery. You will therefore be home on the first night and for the remainder of your recovery. Dr Rizis will see you within the first 5 days to remove sutures and bandages as well as to assess your scars. Recovery continues for a few weeks until the swelling has significantly subsided. Final results can take several months to be achieved. Most patients resume normal activities such as work, driving, showering and exercise within the first 5 days.

Potential Risks & Complications

Although unlikely, all surgical procedures pose potential health risks. During the pre-operative consultation, Dr Rizis will go over all possible risks and complications as well as pertinent procedure information.
